Is it normal for the pain to go back and forth between my tonsils?

For about 2 weeks my throat has been hurting. Its started with my right side there was something white i was thinking it was food stuck but I am not so sure. then a couple days later my left side started to hurt and has been up until today when i woke up my right start was hurting again. Everymorning is the worst and then it starts to hurt less in the day but I have had the green/yellow mucus and on a couple days a pinkish mucus and before when this happend the doctor prescribed me an antibiotic with a refil. I am going to get the refil but is it odd that it keeps going from side to side with the pain? Is there any reason I should see the dr? I need to be better before the weekend since I am caring for a friends baby saturday and on sunday its my birthday and were having a big party and my daughter nor boyfriend have gotten this
